The new music video from OK Go, made in partnership with Chevrolet. OK Go set up over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles. A Chevy Sonic was outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and the band recorded this version of Needing/Getting, singing as they played the instrument array with the car. The video took 4 months of preparation and 4 days of shooting and recording. There are no ringers or stand-ins; Damian took stunt driving lessons. Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they’d play the right note no matter where they were struck. The event comes to a close this weekend with Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Symphony No. 8, “Symphony of a Thousand” at the Shrine Auditorium. The 8th is really using over 1000 musicians and seriously, it looks EPIC. Check out this photo from one of their rehearsals:

The peermusic Latin Scholarship was established by Ralph Peer II and generously funded by peermusic in 2003. The annual competition offers a $5,000 scholarship, which is awarded for the best song or instrumental work in any Latin genre. The competition is open to songwriters and composers who are current students at colleges and universities located in the United States and Puerto Rico. Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 24. All words and music must be original, and may be in either English or Spanish.
