PUNCHING THE CLOWN is an independent comedy that combines scripted fiction with actual live performances of satirical singer-songwriter Henry Phillips. UCLA Extension will be screening the film as part of its Sneak Preview series and will include a Q&A with filmmaker, Gregori Viens. Should be hilarious!

Synopsis: Henry Phillips, a road-weary American troubadour, is down on his luck playing hell gigs in the desert. He moves to L.A. thinking he’s got nothing more to lose. It turns out he was mistaken: his reputation and his music are soon at stake, yet if he plays his cards right, it could all be grist for his darkly humorous songs.

“Punching the Clown is the best movie about comedy I’ve seen so far. Henry Phillips has an angle on comedy that is subtle and singular.”
“Punching the Clown is honestly the funniest movie I’ve seen in years. The songs are disconcertingly funny.”
“Just a damn good time… Destined to become an audience favorite.”
