Emphasis is placed on harnessing the power of the Internet to generate awareness of your music and your brand. Learn how to prepare your business plan along with the basics of self-marketing, publishing, and promotions in the context of the music industry today. Topics include a review of best practices in communication and leadership skills, drafting a business plan that’s in line with your vision for your music, optimizing sales through targeted online visibility, creating a marketing campaign and tracking results, increasing your fan base using the power of social media, self-publishing and keeping the rights to your music, and creating promotions and events to promote your music. Shelly R. Hartman, digital music entertainment professional who has extensive experience in online and social media marketing, digital music sales, and artist and label relations. Currently, Ms. Hartman works as the director of Music and Entertainment Partner Relations at Blue Haze Mobile, where she manages sales and business development with music acts and entertainment companies. Previously, she was director of Label Relations, Music, and Lifestyle for PlayStation Network at Sony Entertainment.
